For me the first day of my senior year left like any other first day of school. The night before I had all my stuff ready. I wasn’t really excited about going back at first but as I arrived and saw all the new faces I started to get a little nervous. The bell rang and as I walked to my first period I didn’t feel nervous anymore. I had this feeling three times but every year it was less and now that I’m a senior it completely went away. All the freshmen were walking around with their schedules in their hand with a lost look on their face as all the other senior including me walked around like if we were home. I still don’t feel like a senior and I don’t think I look like one either, I saw lots of the new kids that were way taller than my class, but the truth is that I’m a senior and with that comes a lot of work.
Even though I don’t look like a senior my schedule sure does make me feel like one. This year besides having my core classes like english and government I had other classes that were going to require a lot of work. When I met with my counselor she suggested that instead of having free periods I should take rigorous courses if I want to stand out in my college applications. I took her advice and got into AP Spanish Lit. and Psychology. I’ve been taking spanish for three years now so I think I’ll do good in AP Spanish. I’ve heard from friends that have taken Psychology last year complaining a lot about it being a hard class. I’m not going to lie, I’m a little bit scared that I’m going to get stressed with too much work but I feel ready to work hard to stay on pace and not fall behind. I really like my schedule this year so I’m really excited to complete all my classes.
As a senior we are also required to complete our senior project, which is required to graduate. Our project has several steps to it. I am currently in the process to completing my job shadow. There aren’t a lot of options here in Lindsay so I chose to job shadow a cop because that is the closest to the job field I want.
When I graduate from high school I plan on going to a four year University. My goal is to study criminology. The schools I’m looking at are Sac State, Long Beach State and Fresno State. Once I finish college I plan to enter the Marines. I want to become a FBI agent and after all the research I have done I think I will have a better chance if I have experience in the military force. After I finish my years in the Marines I will be fully prepared to apply for my dream job.
